New to Showing - what do I do?

So I am hoping to doa spot of showing with the beastie and I think he might be good as a working hunter or possibly a ridden horse or lightweight hunter [have had varying advice].

So who I register with?

I went to the BSHA and there are no hunter classes on the horse reg form?

Who should I register with?

Also he is clearly a good 17hh - he won't be eligible for any restricted classes so do I still need to get him measured?
 
Show/ Working hunters are all reg'ed through Sports horse Breeding GB (old HIS)

If I was you though before you even bother registering I would go to some local riding classes next season and see what the judges think as you only need to reg for the big shows - Even if you need to reg because you have qualified for something at a higher level you can do that at the time. I wouldn't dream of taking him to any of the larger shows until you are confident with your ringcraft even if he is beautiful - you want to show him off to his best afterall. No he doesn't need to be measured for large horse classes

I agree with above do some unaffiliated shows- there are lots of qualifiers and some you don't need to be registered yet (if you qualify you can just register before the champs).

My friend did Workers up to a pretty decent level with PUK (Ponies UK- but horses can be in too) I show (lead rein and M&M) to quite a highish county standard and I'm not registered with anyone yet.

Have a look at Trailblazers I think they do Workers but you'll need to check.

Are there indoor shows over winter? there must be surely, I'm bursting with excitement now I can't wait until April????

What should I wear? I have got - cream jods, long black boots, sensible non-blingy tack, a tweed jacket, do I wear a tie or a stock?

His conformation is pretty much perfect though he does have some injuries - a splint and a scar which I can black out with makeup - my friend who at HOYS [and everywhere else!!! I'm green with envy] says this matters less than if his conformation wasn't so good.

Plus he is a real mover!!!
