What is the correct turn out for both horse and rider in a trad coloured cob class???

Also if your horse is almost all white would you:-

a) go for a leather girth to match saddle

b) go for a white girth to match horse

or

c) buy shares in shampoo/ fairy liquid

who isn't at all excited about her new pony who hasn't even passed the vet yet... (I hope he passes.... please pass... pretty please with sugar, icecream and malteasers on the top... and a few of those choccy covered coffee beans for good luck)....
 
You:

Tweed jacket
shrit
tie
beige or canary jods
long boots if over 14hh
gloves (brown)
navy hat with flesh harness think charles owen sj xp or H2000 type

Horse

plain brown bridle (could do black if piebald) hunter type flat nose band, double or pelham bit unless entering a novice class where you could use a snaffle
show saddle if you can afford it same colouring as above if not gp will do for now
mane and tail left natural ie not pulled and loose but you can tidy a bit
feathers left on (buy a pot of chalk powder now you'll need it!!)
I use a tiny bit of baby oil on a cloth to wipe over eyes, nose, dark patches, knees and hocks
you can use clear hoof oil but do not use black and watch out for the oil clumping the feathers.

Cattle shampoo--used for showing much cheaper than horse variety and shifts stains

Use pig oil on feathers once a week through winter--helps to stop mud weighting down and breaking off feathers

Chat to people on heavy horse stands at agricultural shows --they are very happy to help.

Ditto pig oil and sulphur. You can also get mane bags and tail bags which you just plait up and leave in to double hair growth.

I'd stay away from baby oil as it looks hideous I find and attracts dust...much would prefer the special glistening oil and products myself as they're more subtle and don't attract dust as much :)

Pound per hair you take out....that's the old saying anyway!
 
I have beautiful dark brown leather boots (bespoke hand made for me as a teenager when I showed Ds) , a brown tweed jacket and a brown beagler... will this do or do the boots have to be black...

I would hate to not be able to wear my boots...:(

no the boots you have will be absolutely fine!

p.s. if you rode D's it's exactly the same except the horse you're riding has slodges! ;)
