I was literally just reading this, selfishly I hope they don’t delay it for too long, I had training and my test booked in for the week after they stopped the tests. I still did the training as wanted to feel confident to go it alone and have been looking forward to being able to take the children and ponies to the forest without having to rely on my husband being home to sit next to me as we normally do!

I have not ignored it and badly need a new tow car! This is a bit of a joke. Failing to see what the issue is since I actually cant get a bigger car and tow legally since they scraped the test!!!

I thought they'd stopped the tests? What do people in limbo do?

It's so frustrating, i was told in the summer that the waiting list time for a course with test was a few months which took me up to November then they said they were abolishing the test so was only going to have some driving hours with trailer but no test, now they have delayed it.

I had an email from the company I did my training with this morning saying an accreditation scheme is being developed with help from the trailer industry and training providers. To be rolled out early next year.

Having had a look I think the issue is some MPs can’t understand how the impact assessment hasn’t been shared yet so the date has to be postponed. They also didn’t vote on it as it was 10pm when the issue was discussed in parliament ??‍♀️ so it’s being voted on next week (when I assume they will have rushed the impact assessment to be finalised by!)

I have a horrible feeling they're using it to give the test centre's time to push through more lorry drivers. They'll rescind it next year and those waiting will have to book tests as per the old system.

I was due to do mine in November/December , if it wasn't for pesky childcare issues I could have done it by now but that was the earliest my local trainer could get me in.

Probably. In the meantime people like myself can't tow legally but neither can we take the test that will allow us to tow legally.

Unfortunately suspect they have other things at the moment to concern themselves (like their Christmas party shenanigans from last year!) but I’m hoping they don’t back track on this now!!

I actually have a HGV licence for a lorry from many moons ago but want to tow a trailer as we don't really have space for a lorry...I'm in limbo too as I can't tow at the moment. Not sure if I should book for a trailer test or wait.

No more trailer tests - Gov cancelled them all in favour of giving B+E for free but have not put that into force yet which is why so many are in limbo until they do
