I had a little sneaky feeling this is what it could be...

My Doris is a Daf so would love to know what you think of driving it. Doris arrived on Thusday so conversion finally starts tomorrow

after driving the ford cargo 813 since April last year driving this one is lovely and so much easier
grin.gif
it handles really well, though have only had a spin on the large car park and have reversed it as well. It drives just like a big car! can't wait to take it out for a proper spin with the boys in
grin.gif
am putting the rest of the stuff back in it this afternoon as its surprising how much you acculumate
blush.gif
headcollars, hay nets, rugs, travel boots, first aid kit, grooming kit, food, drink etc etc
shocked.gif
tis a proper home from home
grin.gif

thank you. don't worry bought those after some silly blonde, don't know who
blush.gif
, left the lorry lights on when we went to Somerford Park and ran the battery down totally
shocked.gif
after asking everyone there for jump leads and a jump start to no avail, finally found a nice man with a tractor and leads who got the box started
grin.gif
lesson learnt well and truly so went out and bought these just in case I ever leave the lights on again
grin.gif

And that is why I have an isolator switch on my lorry. I can leave my lights on for a month and it will still start
blush.gif
. Have you got an isolator on yours, insurance companies are starting to ask for that or a fuel cut off now before they will insure lorries.

don't think it has on this one as I just turn the engine off with the key. Old one I used to have to pull a knob out to cut the engine out and then remove the key.

No an Isolator is a 'switch' put into the battery cable wire which when you remove it means that no power can be taken from the battery at all as the circuit is broken. So if you do leave the lights on accidently it wont matter and it makes it harder to steal the lorry as the battery is effectively dead without the switch/key.

No, the switch is about £25 and its about 30 mins work. But unless your insurance asks for it, or you have a 'leak' (something draining the power - usually the tacho, when the engine is switched off) which makes it difficult to start after not being used I wouldn't bother getting one fitted.

Ah right thanks for that DD, insurance didn't ask for that when I gave them the details on Friday (NFU). So will see how it goes then
grin.gif

Im very jealous too! I have been trying to sell mine on Horse Mart and have had no interest at all. Have to get a bigger one to take the monster shire
shocked.gif
Wishing you miles and miles of hassle free fun x

frown.gif
does that mean you won't come and play at Somerford with us again
frown.gif
promise I'll park far away from you, but you're more than welcome to come and have a sit on the sofa and get a cold drink from the fridge
smile.gif

You'll have to let us know when you're next free one weekend and go for a spin round somerford again?

fortunately chap took mine in PX so no hassle selling it! didn't get as much as I wanted but does mean no advertising, phone calls, appointments to view, test drive etc etc and no double tax and insurance so all in thought it was an ok deal
grin.gif

thanks Caz, just wanted something a bit newer and that we could sleep in as old one only had luton over cab and was a bit shallow, whereas this one is deep and the sofa converts to a double bed as well. Somerford Park Horse Camp 2008 here we come

it looks a fabulous box.....

am keeping my figers crossed for you that it's not overweight, though.

with the size of the living which am only guessing at just by looking at the outside window positions, is quite large...and with having a lot of the horse weight behind the rear axle, you might just be pushing it with 2 large horses in.

not trying to dampen things, sorry...but have been through this many, many times with having lorries for our commercial usage.

as i say...fabulous looking lorry!!!

don't worry that's one of the first things I checked and it is well within the weight even with our 2 boys and all the gear on, even have enough for another horse but won't as like to just have our 2 on it
grin.gif

well chap I bought it from has just had it plated so saw it with lots of horse feed in the back to weigh it down for the plating and still came in at 5.7ton with that lot in it
shocked.gif
After all the posts on here that was the first question I asked
grin.gif

Looks a nice lorry, Pidge and Sunny will be travelling in style!
We are having our chassis switched to a Daf, just borrowed a friend's one today and it was so much smoother & quieter than the Roadrunner. So we are looking forward to a better ride as well in a few weeks!

Are you planning to do Horsecamp next year then? We would like to go sometime too (soundness permitting but looking good so far!
laugh.gif
), dates don't go up until the new year I think though.
