So, Cameron wants to potentially offer reduced taxto drivers sticking to A and B roads.

I hate the idea of this. Here in the South West, there are so many detours from using the main roads that mean increased traffic on rural roads where people are walking, riding, cycling etc. The increased traffic through a growing population is bad enough on these roads when people use excessive speed and fail to slow down...I can only see it getting worse.

Where are we rural folk supposed to exercise our horses and dogs if the government are going to reward drivers for choosing these roads for their daily driving???

Ridiculous idea -how would they police it?

However the alternative may be to charge for using motorways which would result in the same outcome.

A & B roads are in a pitiful state of repair a lot of the time so surely this would only make it worse and therefore more expensive?

Nicnac...that is the plan. Build new main roads that carry a camera system like that of London congestion charging. Drivers an choose to use the pay as you go roads for faster travel and if they fail to pay, they get caught on camera and fined.

This in itself might not affect rural roads too much as they would be newly built highways I believe, but the extra measure of offering reduced vehicle tax to those using only A and B roads is, imo and as also expressed by the AA, potentially going to cause a massive increase in accidents.

Just makes you wonder what planet some people are on???
