I teach my dogs on a love/reward basis and they usually do stuff just for cuddles.

So far they know...

Go into the kitchen/bedroom/bathroom
Sofa
My bed
Their bed
Sit
Stay
Lay down
Roll Over
Speak/Bark
Go away
Go in front of the horse on a hack/behind
Fetch
"get it"

I really want to teach the "bang" with a gun shot hand and "play dead", but I don't know how to. Can anyone else think of any other "party tricks" I can teach them - got a week off work and already redecorated a room and cleaned and sorted the entire house lol

My dog taught himself but you can do it by starting to ask for a roll over and then interrupting it when they go flat. I would suggest using hand signals to get the rollover so you don't poison your vocal cue if you have one - mine's deaf so I never know what vocal cues people use or whether you just use hand signals anyway. Or you can lure them into the flat position and get that strong before putting the hand signal and "bang" to it, but sounds like you don't use lures.

Youtube kikopup for great trick ideas, and many can be adapted if you don't clicker train.

Great idea :) Thank you !!!!!

If you have a solid down, then crawl is a fun one (you need to make sure 'down' is really well embedded as otherwise they can get confused!). Sit on the floor with your legs out in front of you, bent up slightly to make a tunnel, get your dog to lie on one side, then lure them through under your legs, with the command 'crawl' as they do so. Then work up to taking your legs away :)

You can also teach them to spin to the left or right, again just lure with a treat to begin with and give the command twist (for one direction) or spin (for the other - just remember which word means which direction!), then eventually you take the lure away :)

If you already have a dog that walks on both the left and right of you, you can teach them 'through' - have them on one side, take an extra large step and encourage them to switch sides by going through your legs.
