Well, little Eric had his operation on Wednesday. The vet said his aorta is the wrong way round and she found a little hole in his heart that she wasnt too concerned with but she managed to improve the oespohagus and remove the loop that was interfering with his digestion.
So, £4000 later (credit card), my parents now have their sixth dog and he is recovering well, he is bright and playing with the others already.
My mum would have had him put down I think but Dad and little sister would never have allowed it. The vet thinks he has a 90% chance of living well into adulthood but said he would be unlikely to make it past 8 or 9.
So, here's hoping that he continues to get better. Thanks to all who gave advice
