Has anyone had a new water supply put in to get water to a field? I am in the market to buy a field but it has no water supply. I really like the field but i wondered how easy it is to get a water supply put in and what is the cost? I haven't had chance to ring the local water authority yet so i wanted to ask on here to get an idea first.

like martlin has said it does depend where it gets connected to.
WE thought ours was going to be easy as the next door neighbour had the mains connected and it was just outside out gaste, unfortunately the water board has change rules and insisted that we had to have the road dug up for a new connection. luckily ours wasnt that far to dig up but still cost around £1000

Did the water board insist on doing the digging or did you have to get somebody else in to do that bit? Sounds like it could get expensive!

You might get an idea of costs from the Water Company website, which Water Company area are you in?

I believe you can install your own pipe but the final connection to the Water Company main has to be done by their contractor.

Tends to depend on which water authority you are dealing with? Where abouts are you? If the water is on the correct side of the road it is cheaper and it also depends if there is pavement to be dug up or is it rural and along a verge?
