We have a spare car that we do not use, its Mot'ed but not taxed, so i decided to use it as my wheelbarrow, put the back seats down and throw all the poo in there from poo picking fields and the muck from the stable, it makes my life so much easier as i am finding it hard at the moment pushing a heavy wheelbarrow because i am pregnant...

Anyhow i mucked out in to there on Saturday and asked my OH to empty it for me Sunday morning, by the time he went to empty it, it was smouldering...oops, he was not best pleased....

I may have done a similar thing in the back of my Defender - but it has rubber flooring and I would empty it immediately and hose it out... It was a bloody long walk to the muck heap on that yard...

We have a really long, slightly uphill drive to the yard and muckheap, and seriously considered doing this last year with my friend's old van. We decided that chucking the poo in and driving it up was great! Shovelling it out onto the muckheap.................can't be arsed! Now, if we can find a tipper truck! :D :D

Its only a old car that OH was thinking of scrapping so even if we tried to sell it we wouldnt get a lot of money for it... so i thought i'd make use of it :)

Normally we put tarpaulin on the bottom then tie it to a post to drag it out or OH shovels it out :D

OMG!

WOW!!

UMM!!!

Not quite sure what too say, if it works for you! Taurpaulin and post sounds much better than shovelling! Got to say though if this was Dragons Den - 'I'm out!'

Pahahahahahahahahahhah

Well that's..... um..... unusual :D

But surely not time efficient in that OH then has to shovel it all out again? As you're only using the car off-road wouldn't it be better to fit a tow bar and pull a trailer? At least then the muck can be semi-pushed off?

My husband just about Puts up with headcollars and stinky rugs in my car
I think pooh would send him bonkers
Good idear tho !!

HAHA, I posted before I saw this....................Funny how Pugs always seem to end up as mobile skips!!!

pmsl, wouldn't make my car smell any different with half a tonne of poo in the boot seeing as i drive through a similar amount of cow poo to get to my field:D

fantastic idea i think, seats for when you need a rest, radio for some tunes to make the task less boring:D what more could you want:cool:

I get a lot of stick from friends about my Honda City car - you can fit heaps of things in it - not called the TARDIS for nothing!

I can see why he would have not been too happy - a tarpaulin lining might have been a good idea! Good on you though for finding a way to look after bubs and yourself.

In a time so long ago - it seems like another life - I used to have company cars and by necessity, used them for transporting all horsey stuff short of loose poo. I started with all good intentions, covering the seats in polythene but that soon crumpled so hay and straw worked its way into the carpets and my mare was startlingly grey. Every now and then I used to give the car a blitzkrieg valetting.

However; cars have many spaces hidden from view - once upon a time I called on some quite important blokes and we all went off to lunch with me driving. Now me being an outdoor boy, I drive with the window open summer and winter but these office types were used to heating. Before I could venture a caution - the front seat passenger had flicked the heater fan to "on" and decorated everyone in a layer of chaff, Bailey's mix and little grey hairs!

Luckily, they thought it was funny!
