They've been talking about it for long enough I'm glad they have finally set a date. Even the jockeys in the yard only knew it was "to come in in the spring".

I still think they should run all races like the Hands and Heels Races. Carry sticks and your only allowed to use them down the shoulder for safety to keep a horse straight or forward into a fence so your not endangering anyone else and you can only show it in a finish.

I think they’ll be there in 10 years. I agree the sooner the better but if a punter will win a tenner with a few extra whacks they’ll never support it.
I don’t watch Irish racing at all now, they seem to have no (enforced) whip rules at all and it’s awful.

It's definitely a step forwards - and I quite like Elf's idea too.

It is going to be quite difficult for the Irish jockeys coming over for one or two races, especially in the heat of the moment. That's their problem, not ours, as we have raised our welfare game, and it's up to them to catch up. I can still see a few bans/fines for them though.
