I am lucky enough to be in the position to build my own set of stables - I am planning on having 2-3 stables put up. A friend of mine will be keeping her horse at mine as company for my horse - What do you think I should be charging her per week (if anything)?

Many thanks

If you are running it as a business, I guess you'll need to cover your business rates and necessary insurance.
Get an idea how much those are going to cost and go from there :).

Thanks for your reply. I won't be running it as a business, just a private yard, and she'll be keeping her horse down there as company! I guess I only need to charge her for hay as we have straw coming out of our ears (we're farmers) and im going to use those small solar panels for light. :)

Do you not need public liability insurance if you are charging her rent?

I would still charge her for straw, after all, you have to bale it, store it etc.

She could make a contribution rather than rent

do you know how much she pays at the moment ?? I would say she is doing you a favour by offering company for your horse so £10 a week should cover straw/ electric costs plus she will never want to leave - if you have a school then more
