I've had a really hard year and as a result have gained a few extra pounds (actually about 30!!!!) I comfort eat and have much that I needed to swallow down this year :(

I want to lose about 30lbs ready for ridden showing in the summer. Anyone want to join me?

I know there is a sticky in soapbox but it's very long so might ask TFC if we can start a new one.

Anyone up for it?

Dont really need to loose weight but I have madly signed up for a half marathon in Sept...so need to get cracking on fitness once this damn white stuff has melted!

I need to lose plenty! Before the snow stopped play I was biking it up to the horses everyday, all uphill. Started having to have a quick stop halfway up and then pushing bike up the steepest part, progressed after just a couple of weeks to being able to bike it non stop right to the field. Today is the first day with no ice or snow so am about to get the bike out for the first time, dreading it!

I'd love to join you Vanner. I have a 3yo to back at the tail end of summer and need at least two stone off before I do it.

I've done it before so I know it's possible but it'd be lovely to have some support!

Are we having a weekly weigh in?

Was just about to suggest that JT! A weekly weigh in - could swap tips and websites too? One has already been suggested. I'm much more motivated if I have to commit to a "public" weigh in!!

I will join you on this too! I went on holiday in July and put on a stone, I want to loose it! Agree with JT about we should have a weekly weigh in!

I am typing this with one hand and stuffing a slab of white chocolate with the other - badly need to join in. Also another vote for the 3 stone in 6 months club although I think 2 stone in 6 months might be more feasible!

I managed nearly a stone on my own but have sadly put back about 5 lbs over December - wonder why?!

Not sure I want to announce to the whole world how much I weigh - could do it by putting up our BMI's for anyone too shy to admit to actual poundage? If I add half an inch to my height, then miraculously I am not obese any more :)

I need to lose 60lbs. Have looked at MrsM's website and if I lose 2lbs a week I can do it by the end of Sept! Might as well start now.

Also I have an iphone app called Couch to 5k which I think is now available free from the NHS which helps you to work up to running 5k without stopping. Before Christmas I was half way through the nine week programme; after being snowed in I may have to redo week 4, but hopefully will be able to do a fun run in feb.

Well I can go first if you like to make you feel better Llewelyn. I'm 5'2'' and I've just got on the scales (in my jeans tbf but even so..) and I'm 12 stone. I'm pretty sure that puts my bmi into obese

I lost 2 stone in three months before (loads of exercise, a lot of special k!) so I'm sure 3 stone in six months is possible if not advisable!

I've found the site excellent!

It's so easy to forget what I've eaten (all those little bits and pieces), plus the knowing how many calories there are in different food .

I've found that, for me, doing two half hour walks a day, works best. If I do more than that, whilst keeping the food down, my body seems to hold on to it

Yep, I just checked 30.7 so officially obese now! Funny as I'm only a size 12-14, I think I must just be super dense

In my defense I can run 10k without any bother (apart from gammy knee playing up but that isn't weight related) so I assume I'm reasonably healthy?

Could still do with shifting it though as none of my clothes fit any more and I'm damned if I'm buying more!

Why don't we just post how much we want to lose (optional) and weight gain/loss each week?

Count me in :) I'm up for the 3 stone in 6 months thing. Just got to work out how to balance on scales one legged :D

Yes, I'm up for it. My super fine mare should be ready to be sat on again beginning of March and I was at least a stone and a half lighter when I last sat on her in May, so I need some motivation. I don't mind posting my weight if everyone else is prepared to do the same.

I've posted mine

The thread is now in Soapbox :):)

I'll join! I've steadily gained about 2 stone over the past 18 months and its got to go! Its funny, the one thing which is spurring me on to lose weight is last time I tried my Ariat Bromonts on (which I use purely for competing) about 2 months ago they only just zipped up!! So I HAVE to lose weight or else I won't have any boots to compete in!
