iv just bought my second horse and hes a 2 year old gypsy cob bought from the gypsies by the breeder then sold onto me as you can probably imagine hes a bit babyish but an absolute sweet heart the gypsies did nothing with him he was handled a week ago for the first time.

any advice on how to bring him on or get him used to people? hes halter trained but a bit green and nervous around people

:)

Just spend time with him to start with, no tryingf to train him. He's had no human contact hence nervous, so let him know humans are nice prior to starting any form of training.
Hang out, pet him, give him a treat etc.

Once he's chilled and relaxed you can teach to lead, let him see the world by walking out in hand, let him see traffic etc. Get him used to other humans.

Then you can think of tack etc.

Good luck, i love youngsters, so much so i wish my 3 year olds were just babies again, well smaller babies lol :)

hes still a colt so every woman that goes near him he LOVES! he walks fine on the headcollar and will follow u to the ends of the earth its just everything else because he wouldnt let me touch his sides or back today without getting a good sniff first haha. hes the cutest man ever and i do have pics but my usb cable decides to go walk abouts so will need to find that first haha

Congrats on new horsey! look forward to piccies

Lots of time in the field with him, groom him with your hands...starting only with areas he is comfortable with. Do everything slowly and with lots and lots of using your voice.

If you find an area he likes to be scratched then that is always a good place to start.

If he is curious then keep doing things nearby, take toys in the field (brooms, balls, grooming kit, even cuddly toys) anything that he might come to look at. My boy will come and look at ANYTHING! he regularly trys to steal my daughters toys.

Next step would be lots of short groundwork sessions, leading, moving back, moving his front end, moving back end and making sure he is happy to stand.

Most importantly...have fun! both of you!
