After asking on several horse boards I recently purchased a 7ft 3ins Rambo XL rug for my percheron mare. She will live out this winter and is in foal. My new rug arrived today and I tried it on and HELP the belly straps do not meet (and she has not changed shape yet). I am asuming I did the straps up correctly; front crossed to back and middle strap straight across.
Is there anyway of lenthening belly straps?
Which rug should I try next??

Your local saddler/rug repairer will be able to extend the surcingles for you

it isn't difficult to lengthen the straps, i do mine myself with plaiting thread and a darning needle.
that is one big mare, i have a huge horse and he's in a 7' rug, a FAL which is on the very generous side tbh. i don't know whether they do bigger, but i swear by them for horses living out all winter.

My horse takes a 7'3"-7'6" rug too. I would contact the company and see what they say. You do not want to invalidate the warranty.

I find Fals fit my horse the best. He is not small at 793 kg.

Hopefully you will hear some good news from Horseware soon.

I once had a shires rugs surcingles made longer by a local tack shop for my shetland.
Re HUGE ruge, i have found Masta Extra Deep really good for our huge chunky 18hh shire. I would def avoid Weatherbeater, the 7'6 i got of theirs looked like a mini skirt on our mare!

Thanks everyone. I have had a reply from Horsewear who make the Rambo rugs and they are sending me a surcingle extender. So looks like I may be a satisfied customer after all!
