Hello long time lurker but first time poster (I just wanted say that obviously I haven't got the rubbed mane!;) please be gentle with me :D

Has anyone got any tips on making manes grow? My 5yo IDxWB has a generally lovely thick mane but the white part of it has disappeared over winter and he now has about 1foot of 1 inch long mane! this has grown since he came out of winter rugs at the end of February but its very slow...we have lots of competitions coming up and i can't plait it so need to either make it grow or make some extensions!

any suggestions would be most gratefully received, please and thank you

(oh and i notice it seems to be the done thing to offer tea and cake or chocolate in return for advice...i can offer Cadbury Caramel or homemade lemon curd tarts with a cup of tea)

Hi Silver Moon :)

I bought the Megatek Rebuilder after reading rave reviews on here, but I have to confess to being disappointed in the results. At a risk of hijacking your thread, I wonder if I haven't used it as others have - can anyone fill me in on how often etc they used it? I have to agree it smells lush :D

Good luck with the competing, hopefully your mane will grow back quicker than mine (which incidentally is also currently growing back a totally different colour to the rest of it!) and your plaits will look a darn site better than mine do at the moment  Ho hum..

Supreme products main & tail re-builder. Our Arab had lost half of her mane due to heavy weight neck covers.

I have found the same, you have to decide between using neck covers and having a rubbed mane or no neck covers and a lovely mane.

I don't use neck covers at all now. :)

I used it over the summer once a week on her mane and her chest which was also rubbed. Not sure when I noticed a difference, but it did grow in very quick!

Someone said to me a while ago there was a Megatek one that you left in and didn't have to rinse? Never heard of it though!

Depending on how your horse is built your horses mane will always be rubbed out with a neck cover or none. If like mine where he has big shoulders so the rug sits a way up his neck and rubs the mane out no matter what you try :(
