So I thought I should introduce myself.

I'm an Aussie but love this forum even though I sometimes am totally clueless to what's being talked about :o

I ride dressage and own a young Lipizzaner named Illy who is my best mate.

So tell me about yourself. And what is "working livery"?

Hi, welcome to the Forum.

Illy looks very sweet - wish my grey stayed that clean, she's a real mud monster!

Working livery is where the horse is used by the yard for lessons - usually found at riding schools or can be at agriculturaly / equestrian colleges.

:)

I can assure you he's not always that clean.

So do you get reduced agistment fees? I guess it would take a special sort of horse for that arrangement.

Hi there. Illy looks very handsome, I am also afflicted with a white horse (yep, she's pink skinned so she is white...well would be if she weren't covered in mud and or poo!). I do love her though even when she's a filthy beast.

A working livery is a cheaper way to have your horse on "full livery" as the horse is used by the school/college, you agree when your horse is used (usually) and when you want to use your horse and you get a reduced livery bill. Arrangements can differ as to who pays for shoes/vacs/vets fee's etc etc, all depends on where your horse is and what its used for. Works for poeple who have little time to exercise/look after their horses but still want to own one.
