Hi

I am sure these questions have been answered so many times before, but...

I am going hunting for the first time this season and am so excited!

Here are my questions:

1) I would like a proper hunting jacket, but in tweed as I can use it for more things. What colour tweed should it be?!

2) Do I need/should I have a proper hunting whip? Or will a plain black short normal crop be ok?

3) This is a weird one! I only have an Australian Stock Saddle! It's black, and fairly inconspicuous. Can I use it? Will I get frowned on? It's just I feel so safe and confident in it...

4) My horse is a coloured cob, 14.2, stocky ex travellers horse. Would I be expected to plait?

Thanks

(1) green keepers tweed is traditional eg:

but any plain green/brown/grey tweed will do- try to avoid velvet collars or bright pink trimmings!

(2) a normal whip in a dark colour will be fine. The hunting whip can be fiddly to get used to carrying!

(3) any saddle will be fine-try to keep the pad/cinch girth a dark colour- its the brightly coloured or white saddle squares that look strange!

(4) As long as you are clean/well groomed/tidy then plaiting isnt essential, many hunts wouldnt expect you to plait if you wear tweed anyway ;)

Hope you have a lovely time :)
