Hi, this is my first post. I own 2 horses, a 2 year old cob called blue and an 8 year old standardbred called sunny. I'm looking for advice on bitless bridles as riding sunny is becoming such a problem taken a good half hour to get his bit in, and then head shaking when riding. I bought a cheaper bitless bridle but had no control of him. I've heard about dr cook bridles and how in control you still are with them. Has anyone tried them?
Thank you in advance for your advice.

do you know why he has such issues?
i have used a hackamore succesfully. if used/fitted incorrectly they can cause problem though.

Welcome to the forum sunshine2020. Lovely to meet someone else with a "Sunny" rather than a "Sonny". When I bought my Sunny, he had a name but no passport or papers of any kind. So I had to decide was he a Sunny or a Sonny. Well, he's a superstar and deserved to be Sunny because he's sunny by name and sunny by nature! Just wanted to say that investing in a bitless bridle is unlikely to stop his headshaking, if it's true headshaking rather than a total unhappiness in his mouth. Have you tried smearing honey or treacle on the bit so he starts to look forward to it? Bless him, glad he's found a new mum who's going to help him x

Did the vet check his ears for mites, as sometimes that can cause headshaking. If you have a good saddler near you ask their advice, or they could put you onto someone, also too tight a browband can pinch the base of their ears, causes headshaking.
