As title really, wanting to insure my mare and am about to breed her, who would you recommend? Others are insured with NFU, only reason shes not insured yet is that she’s only been here two weeks today and I’ve been caught up in learning about breeding etc!

Thanks!

I’m with insurance emporium- mare has a thousand exclusions so didn’t want to pay through the roof but also was reluctant to not have her covered.

They cover breeding, but not foaling unless assisted (I.e they won’t pay out for her to foal at vets for no reason) which seems reasonable. I’m waiting with bated breath to see if they will pay my claim - mare went to the vets to foal on vet recommendation as the foal had a twisted front leg but didn’t need assistance in the end so I have no idea if they’ll pay.

When she went in, I was extremely glad for their cover; 6k vet bills and the vets quoted me 5k if she needed assistance (without assistance it was 1.5k and she was only there 2 nights ?)

Thank you, will get a quote from them.

I used Insurance Emporium a couple of years ago for a mare who was owned by my friend but the resulting foal was mine (joint venture) - they were very helpful and covered everything for the mare but not the foal and I added a specific sum insured value, should we have lost her at foaling- thankfully all went well and no claims required, but it was good to have that peace of mind for a very reasonable premium. I subsequently insured my foal with them and again they seem to be very good.

Thank you, that’s good to know! Much appreciated.
