If any horse takes off property then you probably wouldn't stand a chance. My ancient 13.2hh retired pony has galloped off with me quite a few times and I'm massive on him. You'll never match a horse on strength, no matter what size. As long as the horse is nice natured and you get on well with it, I dont see a problem.

you do ride a bit short but if that's what you are comfortable with at the moment then fair enough. i reckon that once you progress, your stirrups will lengthen.

my friend is 5'2 and has a 17.2 iD x and she doesn't have a problem. in fact, if anyone tall gets on he is confused about their leg position being so different and tends to ignore them lol
