I have been a member of this forum for a while but only recently began to use it actively, so thought I should introduce myself: I am 18 years old and have ridden for about (a mere) 7 years. I have never been able to have my own horse but have been lucky enough to share, ride & look after horses for other people and work at a yard to gain as many experiences and learn as much as I can. I currently help to look after 4 horses (only for one day a week until I pass my driving test) and my main ride is a 15.3hh 11-year-old black mare called Poppy (who we think is a TBx). She is a quirky character: hormonal, fussy to handle and tack up, doesn't really connect with other horses or people, has a good bronc in canter, pulls the reins out of your hands, tricky to mount ... only minor quirks but you have to really watch yourself around her nonetheless! She is a fantastic horse and I love her very much.
I also have 3 small dogs with huge characters to make up for it - mostly mongrels and all rescues! My main horsey interests are based around equine nutrition, behaviour & training. I generally hoover up any knowledge I can gain (sad and naive though that sounds). I have high ambitions and would particularly like to show jump, event, hunt and Polocrosse, but have never had the opportunity to compet. So for now I'm a happy, muddy hacker.
