Is anyone going to the one day event at Newbold Verdon on 30 June?

I just wondered what the place was like and how well organised it is etc? If we go it will be our first ODE and so want to start quite low level!

I've been, it's well organised but wouldn't go again. I expected the xc course to be just that, an xc course. Not a knock down all poles no proper jumps course. I was disappointed really for that fact alone, I'd been to a few ODEs previously and been faced with proper xc fences, so to be faced with what was essentially a big figure of 8 round a field didn't impress me to say the least!

Ok thanks, that's very useful and was what I thought it might be like. I might see what else is on and go if I don't find anything else! X

I'd like to do the one at the start of August. My friends done their very mini one before and really enjoyed it.

I liveried at Newbold for a number of years, the course will be mainlyl knock down, and it generally aimed as a 'local' level type of competition. The main negative i found is that the ground can be an issue as its heavily grazed, so little grass cover, however, as a venue it has everything you need and on the whole are organised very well. Its the ideal place to go, to get out and have a fun day out and get some experience over rustic looking fences, the menage is good for the dressage and i believe they've recently invested in new show jumps. But if you're looking for a serious competition it may not be quite what you're looking for...
