newcomers /110cm open

I hope this rule will be changed...or at least workarounds (such as 1.15m Opens) implemented....BUT, we should at least remember that in an 'Amateur' category schedule, they can still run all the Opens from Zero cms to 1.20m...so not quite everything is lost...yet

No, but I've checked out all my local shows schedules I've not found an amateur catagory show yet.

They're rare ! We have a couple of show centres that run them occasionally, but not often.

I've just thought of annother 'workaround' too though

Well, i didn't *think* of it so much as realise that Royal Leisure actually run a 1.10m Amateur Qualifier BEFORE their Newcomers / 1.10m Open class. In fact, that schedule is probably a Progressive anyway as it doesn't go above 1.10m, but nonetheless, could it be possible that we see more 1.10m Am qualifiers appearing

Wouldn't get round the issue of centres paying out two sets of prize money mind you

Just been having a quite look round all our local show centres schedules 'post 1st April 2007' and notice the following :-

Pyecombe on 7th/8th April has a 1.05m Open followed by a Newcomers, followed by a 1.15m Open on the saturday. Then a 1m Open followed by a 1.10m Open, followed by a Fox/1.20m Open on the sunday.

Golden Cross on 28th/29th April has a 1m Am, 1.05m Open, 1.10m Am and 1.15m Open on the saturday. Then a 1m Am, 1.05m Open, Newcomers, 1.15m Open and Fox/1.20m Open on the sunday.

Soooo....it does look like combined classes are disappearing, but on the positive side, it does seem the centres are being a little more creative with their schedules, and for those who were complaining about dumbing down, they seem to have addressed that issue too

And anyway.....1.15m is only one hole higher than 1.10m

If they run an amateur show with classes above 1m they have to run a 1.20 which has a minimum of £50 first prize, which they won't get many entries in.

But they can run 1.10 amateurs in normal classes

I don't understand why more places don't do amateur schedules, apparently the majority of the membership is incapable of jumping above a 1m

so why not run the shows that are going to make you the most money

Becaauussee.......They don't need to run an Amateur Category schedule to run the lucrative classes of 1m and below.....they can run an Intro Category schedule instead (that way they don't have to run the 1.20m Am with the min £50 1st prize

).
