I can't find anything about it on the BSJA site so I'll ask here, what heght is it to start and how big does it get?

First round of the 1st Round Qualifiers are 1.10m, going upto 1.20m in the jump off.

A 2nd Round Qualifier will start at 1.20m, and is run over 3 rounds (A8) so could in theory go upto about 1.35m

The final at HOYS will be around 1.30m i think

It is open to registered horses who have not won more than GBP 300 and you need to jump 4 DC's in a 1st Round Qualifier to go into the 2nd Round Qualifier. After that it is a certain number of horses placed that qualify for the final

Do you need to get the 4 DC's in a row?
I'm full of questions today!

[/ QUOTE ]

No....just within the qualifying period.

Sorry to jump on this post!!

But what can you actually legally jump on a Grade A (won over £4K) BSJA?

Well......ermmmm.....Opens or any Grade A or A&B class. We also run ABC Handicaps in our area with the Grade A's jumping 1.25m.

You can jump all the Amateur classes from 90cm to 1.20m too

That just makes it sound so much worse

Don't worry about the spreads.....1.20m is only a third of a horses normal canter stride...they do it without realising it

No it doesn't, don't think about the width! Novice BE is 110 and up to 140 width...

[/ QUOTE ]
Thats wider than my horse!

It may be wider.......but it isn't longer

You won't get a fence any wider than the one in my siggy. It only looks about half an olympic length wide

[/ QUOTE ]

That doesn't sound so bad. One day in the not too distant future we shall be out there doing it!

Maximum width of a ditch with no fence at Advanced is 3m60... at Novice it's 2m80.........

[/ QUOTE ]

And the water at Hickstead is about 16' (4.8m) wide too

Ok, you'll only have to contend with 1m80 ditches and 1m40 drops then

I won't be showing Liberty that part of the rule book, that's for sure! Imagine how many gremlins could live in a 1m80 ditch, all there waiting to gobble him up!

That is the length of my lorry

Exactly, and it doesn't seem to cause too much of a problem. Admittedly making a mistake at it is probably less painful than at a sleeper-faced ditch, but it does demonstrate horses ability to jump width-ways as well as upwards.

Methink snoop wont have the problem there.... I might show him the rule book cos hes far too cocky as it is!

Taking WW to Patchetts tonight going to have a blast round the BN and Disco and I don't care if I have them all down I'm going to have fun. Mind you, rang them at 3 and they're still on the Fox, the 2nd class of the day!! That means still got 125 and 130 to go before BN... could be a long night...
