Newly diagnosed Cushings pony

Daughter’s pony is 25 and freshly diagnosed, been on half a tablet for about 5 weeks.

She’s not losing her coat, whilst she does normally have a thick coat, she usually starts moulting in January. She is prone to over heating at the best of times.

It’s about 10c and sunny and she’s feeling damp/sweaty already.

Am I going to have to full clip her?

I’ve got a call at 10am so i can wash her off and try and get it done this afternoon.

Can she live out full clipped and naked with shelter for now?

yes, I found that a horse doesn't shed a cushings coat. I had to fully clip including legs on a similar horse at this time last year. ( I am basically a year ahead of you with coat)
Once I got rid of the cushings coat I have found he moults far more normally, I let mine go to the end of April in the hope he would sort himself before clipping but no choice as he was simply losing half a dozen hairs a day.

as for living you may have to consider a rug if it gets bad but there are some pretty cheap pony rugs around if you haven't got one already.
 
My friend has to clip her cushings pony all year round, but she rugs accordingly in winter. She's still rugged overnight or in rain at the moment.

I’ve just bathed her so will clip this afternoon. She’s got a games comp next month so no way she would travel with a fluffy coat.

We are fully stocked with rugs as I accidentally fully clipped her one winter 🤣

Poor sweaty pony. Did I mention I hate clipping? 🤣

I'm not a fan of clipping either! My sister gets that job
