Does anyone have newmarket tan / tobacco tack on their bright bays? I love how it looks on a chestnut, but unfortunately can't afford another horse to satisfy my tack hoarding :D I'm in a real quandary having been given the offer of some birthday tack - whether to stick with red brown (which I love, but isn't new and interesting!) or go for tan, which is new & interesting & a gamble as to how it would look! Does anyone have any pictures? Google has a surprising shortage of that combo

Noooooooo! ?
I have one, and love it, but I wouldn't want it on a bright bay.
The shortage of pictures is because it looks wrong to most people ?
Dammit - this is why I want to see! :D I cobbled together a sales photo onto a picture of my horse and it looked great but I don't trust it!

I think most people would say it would look wrong because tan tack is so rarely seen , or even available.
I think it could look quite nice, especially with a black saddle cloth... The colour will darken and mellow with use and conditioning anyway.

Aah well found! That is a bit bright, but it would tone down. Seeing the red brown underneath is kinda swinging me back towards it though, it's such a lovely combination.

Only one thing for it - I'll have to buy a chestnut :D

You'll likely find its far more common in Western riding. I dont have any pics but I have medium oil tack on my mare who is bright bay in summer and goes a dark bay in winter. I love it and makes us stand out (although we do that I guess anyway living in an area where there are lots of horses and everyone else is an English rider).

I had one to trial as it fit my chestnut....had to go back cause i coudlnt look at it no matter the fit!! The only horse i would have it on is a black, like in gone with the wind...and i would have a little matching pony hahha

Just bear in mind that tan deepens in colour as it ages. If you ever need to replace a bridle part, it will stick out like a VERY sore thumb!

Have to say I’m in the love camp! Just hard to find it.
Looks gorgeous on my mare she’s brown so all her points are tan too.

Jet black or white both look awesome with tan tack!!!

...I like tan tack. Had a tan bridle on my bright bay mare (photo won't load sorry) and they get darker really fast and look lovely. Nothing wrong with being a bit different as long as you like your tack

I think MrT would look awesome with tan tack. He is chestnut and has a tan mane and feathers. His black saddle fits him too well to justify a new saddle though!

Now I’ve just found out how to post photos... here’s a photo I took in my absolute favourite store in Texas - a dream for all the “tan” fans (sorry they’re not English saddles!)92436C4D-A6F2-4B05-881A-EB7840F98B3D.jpeg, they do have a very small English section and surprisingly all the English saddles they have are black or Havana!
