Hey all,

Not sure if this is in the right section but heyho, I am trying to do some research into the breeding of my cob 'Newtown Guest', I know its very hard to find information on cobs that are over from Ireland, but I'm giving it a go any way as I am really interested in seeing whether I will find anything.

I have been given a few names i.e. Luke Wallace who could have/did own a few Irish cobs, but all I can find on google are Thoroughbreds from Newtown Stud.

The Passport that I have for my boy is an Irish Sport Horse one, but it has disappeared at the moment, I know that there was a name and address in there, but without that I am pretty useless. I have searched with the use of the information before and found a mare that was for sale, with the 'Newtown' name, whom looked a lot like my boy, but had no further success from there.

I know its a long shot but I am hoping that somebody may have some knowledge of the studs, or somebody that I can get in contact with to find out more about this?

Any help will be really appreciated, Thank you

Emily

There is about five different Newtown Studs in Ireland in different parts of the country and not all are tb studs! Or the Newtown prefix could be name of the town/town land and again there are a few Newtowns!

Get your vet to scan the microchip, ring the irish horse board with the microchip number and if his breeding is recorded they will be able to tell you. i'm sure you can prob put in the microchip number into the website and it might throw up something. hope it helps. x

Heya, thanks all for the reply,

Sadly can't check the microchip as I had the vet put one in myself,

He is an Irish Sport Horse/Irish Cob,

I have now found the passport and the first registered owner is a Thomas Headd in Co.Galway, Ireland, does anybody know this man or maybe the stud?
The Passport is a Irish Horse Registered one.

Thanks for all help

there is an area called Newtown (Mount Kennedy) in Wicklow, this is a very horsey place so it could be somewhere from around there?

Fueledbyaisling - that area pops up a lot when I look up Newtown Guest on google for the hotels

But still have not had much success with my search. I saw that somebody was selling a Newtown on Horsemart the other day and in the advert said 'bred by the well known Newtown Stud' or something like that, so will possibly give her a ring as got her number from the advert

Thanks
