Next Installment in the World of the Danish Livery Yard

[ QUOTE ]
Ironically, we probably pay less for full livery where we are than many in the uk spend on DIY a month.

We have vacancies, bring carpets and buckets.

Do they not use carpets on their horses over there?

I bet they thing our ways are very odd indeed!

They do rug their horses yes, but there was some confusion over the word for rugs.

I told the head rider that we called them rugs and he replied along the lines of "like on the floor?"

Im guessing he forgot the word, remembered we discussed the floor and went with carpet instead

Loving it, Tierra, please carry on

We went to Denmark for our honeymoon - lovely people, although we didn't meet anyone quite as strange as you have!

Tierra, ROFLMAO.

Oh please, don't stop these will you?
Now I have another favourite to be checked!

As I have been to the dentist I am in post-injection (x 6! scary!) drool mode anyway, but even if I hadn't been I would be dribbling in awe of those stables and Jacks' frightfully posh home. wow!

love your blog. can i ask a while ago you did a thread on how well paid grooms were in denmark. how do they afford to pay them if your livery is so cheap on such an excellent yard, do they have some funding or something?

The yard Im at has additional income aside from the livery. They have public lessons on school horses and the also loan out these horses to individuals.

Aside from that they're also a training establishment linked to a local sports college so i think we get some funding from there. In addition we're also the leading competition centre for many national and international events and again, im not sure if theres not some funding coming from that.

I dont think the yard im on runs profitably. The family who own it also own the large castle in who's grounds the centre sits and theres a lot of old money attached to the family. The equestrian side of things is very much a passion rather than a business i believe.

Im hunting around atm to see if i can find any pictures on the net from the shows we held over summer.

Jack was, for some time, neighbour to one of the Blu Hors horses which made us both feel very posh!

If i find them, i'll stick them up
