We survived.
Our first time xc schooling with the snoopster and what a good boy he was.
The ground in the pics that 4Faulter took yesterday do look horrid, but today the ground had dried and for a 4 year old with no studs we never slipped, lost footing or skidded into any fence.
The ground although pouched into a few fences was absolutely fine, and boy am i pleased i made the effort to go.
Snoop being his usual argumentative self couldnt wait to get off the lorry, we were parked next to Sillymare and her lovely beasty Merry!
We both tacked up and went in search of 4Faulter who i think was chatting up the girls doing dressage
All 3 of us went hacking off to the main field with my mother in hot pursuit on foot.
We all trotted around and Sarah and I went and cantered around until we reached the water and coffin jump. Snoop was spooking at all the fences which didnt leave me with a lot of hope
Snoop popped the open ditch between the two palisades well, and we did that a few times. Sarah and Merry went on following 4faulter over the whole coffin combo and then over the infamous water ditch which always catches ppl out.
We then went on to the water and had a play in there, snoop was a little wary due to the water splashing up but snoop popped in and then there was no stopping him, trotting around then cantering through.
We then went in search of solid stuff, and 4faulter gave me a lead over some nice green rails, he flew those well and i came round again on our own which he did in fine style. I then tucked in behind sarah and merry going down to some tyres with a little drop the other side and he flew those too, so i put those two fences together and linked in some very scary black pipes which he boldy jumped also.
Then on to the little bank (see 4Faulters pics) he popped up those brilliantly, and flies off the other side, no hesitation with drops wotsoever.
Then being brave i decided to jump the bank length ways and jump the raised tyres at the end, slightly got unseated and drifted past the tyres lol so went slightly slower along the top of the bank this time andhe jumped the tyres in fine style
After that, popped a rolltop seat then bounced up the steps and then off the drop the other side.
After all this was negotiated nicely we then went on in search of making a little course and decided we would all meet back down at the water.
Well the little guy was fab, although his rider is still a little rusty! he flew the larger pheasant feeders, tyres, roll tops and then over more roll tops between the hedge line to his tyres with a drop and down into the water.
4Faulter then put up a little sj so we could canter through the water and jump out, all jumped it well, although there was so much splash created snoop and i could bearly see where we were going!
Then we jumped the sj coming towards the water, this time snoop didnt care about the sj and just took the pole with him lol, the 2nd time he jumped it much better.
So to finish off, i popped him through the water, up over the Sjing to a hanging log which was the only fence he actually snaked into and then up over the rails as mother was stood in the way of the hedge
got mother to move and did the whole thing again, this time he still looked a bit at the log, but flew the hedge so big in fact i kicked on over flower bed and up the steps to finish.
Talk about FUN!
We had a super time, and both sarah and I were thrilled with our baby horses
Would like to thank 4faulter for nannying us
and for arranging the afternoon.
