We survived.
Our first time xc schooling with the snoopster and what a good boy he was.
The ground in the pics that 4Faulter took yesterday do look horrid, but today the ground had dried and for a 4 year old with no studs we never slipped, lost footing or skidded into any fence.
The ground although pouched into a few fences was absolutely fine, and boy am i pleased i made the effort to go.
Snoop being his usual argumentative self couldnt wait to get off the lorry, we were parked next to Sillymare and her lovely beasty Merry!
We both tacked up and went in search of 4Faulter who i think was chatting up the girls doing dressage
grin.gif

All 3 of us went hacking off to the main field with my mother in hot pursuit on foot.

We all trotted around and Sarah and I went and cantered around until we reached the water and coffin jump. Snoop was spooking at all the fences which didnt leave me with a lot of hope
crazy.gif
Snoop popped the open ditch between the two palisades well, and we did that a few times. Sarah and Merry went on following 4faulter over the whole coffin combo and then over the infamous water ditch which always catches ppl out.
We then went on to the water and had a play in there, snoop was a little wary due to the water splashing up but snoop popped in and then there was no stopping him, trotting around then cantering through.
We then went in search of solid stuff, and 4faulter gave me a lead over some nice green rails, he flew those well and i came round again on our own which he did in fine style. I then tucked in behind sarah and merry going down to some tyres with a little drop the other side and he flew those too, so i put those two fences together and linked in some very scary black pipes which he boldy jumped also.

Then on to the little bank (see 4Faulters pics) he popped up those brilliantly, and flies off the other side, no hesitation with drops wotsoever.
Then being brave i decided to jump the bank length ways and jump the raised tyres at the end, slightly got unseated and drifted past the tyres lol so went slightly slower along the top of the bank this time andhe jumped the tyres in fine style
smile.gif

After that, popped a rolltop seat then bounced up the steps and then off the drop the other side.

After all this was negotiated nicely we then went on in search of making a little course and decided we would all meet back down at the water.

Well the little guy was fab, although his rider is still a little rusty! he flew the larger pheasant feeders, tyres, roll tops and then over more roll tops between the hedge line to his tyres with a drop and down into the water.

4Faulter then put up a little sj so we could canter through the water and jump out, all jumped it well, although there was so much splash created snoop and i could bearly see where we were going!
Then we jumped the sj coming towards the water, this time snoop didnt care about the sj and just took the pole with him lol, the 2nd time he jumped it much better.

So to finish off, i popped him through the water, up over the Sjing to a hanging log which was the only fence he actually snaked into and then up over the rails as mother was stood in the way of the hedge
smirk.gif
got mother to move and did the whole thing again, this time he still looked a bit at the log, but flew the hedge so big in fact i kicked on over flower bed and up the steps to finish.

Talk about FUN!

We had a super time, and both sarah and I were thrilled with our baby horses

Would like to thank 4faulter for nannying us

and for arranging the afternoon.

Thanks for reading...

We had a brilliant time, both the baby horses did everything that was asked of them (although BBs didn't mention Merry trying to jump INTO a very deep ditch with water at the bottom!!).

Absolutely delighted with Merry and BBs should be equally delighted with Snoops.

Eventing season, here we come!

So he is going to be an Eventer!, guess you aren't worried about Larkhill anymore?

Sounds like a fun day.

Nope not worried, not entered....was hoping to put in a late entry today but theyve closed the classes due to B&W cancelling

Think we will aim for Tweseldown Unaf Intro, Moreton Morrell and Mattingley.

HAHA I thought you might like to mention the interesting ditch negotiation lol

So pleased with him, but like i say, he never seems to get tired, i put him on the walker when we got home and he promptly trotted around
confused.gif

Think i will aim for that one on the 1st now
smile.gif

ETS Oh bugger, i have the lesson with Geoff Lucket the following day

Bugger - i knew i should have come
a010.gif

So glad you had a great time, i went for a gallop around the local reservoir, but it wasn't the same, and i was itching to jump

So glad the babies were good - just no more posts about how perfect it was please

Arghhh Ash you should have come. You wouldnt have been disappointed.

Well Im thinking of either going to Moreton next week BSJA or ringing Aston le Walls and seeing about xc there. If you wanna join me....

Thats excellent!!!!

Well done you and snoops!!!
smile.gif

Hope your mother was making herself useful with a video camera in her hand!!

Sounds like a brilliant first XC experience. Well done to you and to Sarah, and Snoops and Merry too obviously.

Can't wait to hear reports of first event (if I could find a lovely venue like that to go schooling there might even be an event report from me).

Couldn't see 4 faulter's photos though from yesterday, said I didn't have access or something, so trying to picture it in my head. Did your mum take any pics??

Sounds like a fab day!! Sorry we didnt join you, but we were a bit dubious with the ground, so went local instead.... But roll on Snoops eventing season!!
grin.gif

That is so fantastic V-
cool.gif
am seriously impressed by his attitude. What a trooper is snooper
grin.gif
Definately need to get entering some events!!

Thanks guys.

Lec, youre right, my face is aching from all the grinning.

The boy did good today.

Think we need another go perhaps Aston next time, but he was so funny, so spooky just trotting and cantering past fences, but once he had jumped the rails it was like he went *Oh these solid fences are for jumping -oh thats okay then*
He did seemed pretty pleased with himself, but then again, hes always pleased with himself lol

good little Snoopy, sounds far more sucessful than when I introduced Moon to xc
smirk.gif

Events maybe planned for later in the season then......?!

He sounds just like Joe when we had our indoor xc session. He spooked at everything until i pointed him at them and he realised they were actually funny looking jumps, he then didn't hesitate at a thing!

What happend to you and moon? i thought all went well with you guys?

Well i think it will now be tweseldown unaffiliated and then full steam ahead before the ground goes hard.
Ive unfortunately missed Larkhill ballot date, and cant think of any where else to go other than sapey intro.
What do you think?

Took Moon about 30 minutes to work out what the hell this thing on the ground was. After that she was fine, just had a bit of a battle to get her to understand it was a jump!!

I'm gonna do Tweseldown unaff on Flossy if she's still around, I also couldnt spot any other nice intros. You could try Ebbesbourne, it's lovely down there

Great afternoon. We must do it again sometime soon
smile.gif

Ed seems to really enjoy his role of nanny horse. Judging by yesterdays performance I think he could make a career of it. It's very rare to find a horse you can just switch on and off the way he does. I swear he had a smile on his face all evening.
laugh.gif

Woohoo.......sounds like you all had a ball
laugh.gif

I think Snoops is gonna be an eventer now then lol! Didn't think you'd be able to stay away from it for long
wink.gif

Off to find 4faulter's piccies now......
