Next time I plait up ...

My daughter used to do this all the time as she found it easier as her ponys mane was really thick and long. Judges used to positively comment on it every time.

That plaiting is lovely. I might try it on the haffie on the yard I am on!

However haven't they really spoiled the face of the little girl in the pic above it by plastering her with all that make-up?

It's quite easy if you have patience! Just loads of plaiting bands... http://www.ehow.co.uk/how_8426989_lattice-plait-horses-mane.html

I like it when there is plenty of mane left underneath to flow, it looks a bit weird when its a horse with a shorter mane and its done to the ends I think.... Unless its just for experimenting in which case go crazy :-)

It does help tie in those dreaded rubbed out short bits at the bottom though.

That looks lovely with the loose ends, I'm used to seeing it latticed all the way down.

Saw a picture recently (here, I think) of a tail that had been lattice plaited on the outside (like a cage surrounding the loose middle). It was stunning and I'm going to try it on my ISH even though he's not really the right type :D

Edit: Can't find it but omg I wish I could plait like this!
