NFU are REALLY taking the pi$$ now!

I really recommend Petplan for the 'older' equine. I insured my pony with them at 18yo for about £50 a year less than the premium I was paying NFU at the time for a 12yo cob who had no claims from birth.
6 weeks later the pony went hopping lame and they paid out without question for diagnostics and treatment for navicular and DDFT injury including specialist expensive shoeing...his renewal for the following year was only about £30 pa more despite them paying out over 4K on a new policy.

On the other hand, NFU screwed up the cobs insurance when it was transferred to a loaner (and rapidly transferred back it has to be said) as they started sharing bank details etc between us then cancelled the policy with no notice and refused to reinstate it and the call centre were worse than useless, in fact gave incorrect information. It turned out that they were trying to collect the DDs using my name and her bank details and vice versa so technically the premium was unpaid but they didn't even attempt to contact either of us. Took me weeks to find out what was going on and I only did because my bank was able to point me in the right direction!

I'm with NFU - Put in a huge claim last year, my boy had all sorts of treatment but sadly it was decided it was better to PTS:(

When I asked why, they said it was because I had made a big claim already.

But this is a different horse!!!!!

Exactly the same as me, so I sadly waved them goodbye. :(

I've got a dog like this, our Labrador is steady and has his annual visit to the vet for his jabs and that's usually it, the Springer on the other hand is on first name terms with every member of staff at the vets, he is sooooo accident prone. We have spent a fortune on vet bills for him, used his whole vet allowance for the year just on one tooth problem one year! He is a walking disaster, but we love him to bits!

Typical springer. Vet says 50% of dogs needing sutures or in spud like accidents are springers. One of mine cost over a grand in two months with stupid injuries: born to run!

^^ This. 2 companies I would NEVER insure with SEIB and E & L.

Gulp. Why? I'm with SEIB, never claimed in three years. Who would you recommend as I'm due to renew next month?
