NFU breakdown, any good?

Just looking at quotes/breakdown for new box,

There seems a vast array of breakdown, NFU can do both the insurance and breakdown and seem quite competitive.

Am I better to go with a seperate breakdown, ie equine rescue or horsebox owners association?

NFU have always been good for us. They arrange everything, and put you in contact with whoever is doing the rescue - tyre companies in our case!

They also then ring every half hour to check if you and the horse are ok and if you want a rescue box to take the horse away if it is stressed causing a fuss. :)

I know others are good too, but thats just my experience. :)
 
Same for us. We have a 55 Reg 7.5t box, and have had to use the NFU breakdown 4 times for blow-outs! They are always very helpful, and actually ring back with progress reports.
Whilst on the subject, has anyone else had several 2005 tyres fail, or have we been very unlucky? The 2 remaining original tyres only have 65000 km on them and plenty of tread. The box is used a couple of times every week, it is parked under cover (no sun), and we check tyre pressures and condition every weekend. They always go with a huge bang, with no warning at all.
 
NFU are about the most established at doing this as they have being doing the breakdown cover in conjunction with the insurance for years. They also do it correctly as opposed to some companies who will put your broken lorry on tow with your horses in - they should not do this! NFU will arrange for another horsebox to come and pick up your horses should you wagon not be able to be fixed at the roadside.
 
I've lost count of the number of times they have come and rescued us! Incuding rescuing lorry and me and the horse from Edinburgh Vet School all the way back to Gateshead. Would definately reconmend them.
