Thanks everyone :) at the moment just deciding whether to

a) just put him on the NFU veteran @ £26/month
b) just stop insurance and pay into a bank account each month
c) join BHS Gold so I have liability as I do still hack him out

I've been doing points b) and c) for some years now Alchemy ;)

I left NFU after 3 years of no claims but the premium going up and up. I'm now with Scottish equestrian who have always been very helpful. You may find you are covered for 3rd party on your home insurance,we are,so I don't pay twice for that. I did get a quote from animal friends but they refuse to cover if you do any form of hunting, even bloodhounds,so no good for us.

Do all three! Except I would take the 30pcm KBIS policy someone mentioned because its a standard policy not a veteran one. Put 25 in the bank each month to match the 55 you currently pay. When you have to move to a veteran policy in a few years then put the full amount of insurance in the bank each month and join BHS Gold Membership. :)

Phone them, give them an opportunity to explain the premium increase and check it's being priced correctly at renewal - mention your loyalty blah blah, if so switch insurers or the other suggestions above.
