Well my cousin has just got himself a beautiful Staffy called Skara

I was talking to him yesterday and he said he wanted to get her a nice harness for going out on walks so she's not being checked back round her neck. (He's not keen on choke chains.)

He bought one of the nylon clip harness things but said he wanted a nicer one.

So, seeing as Christmas is coming up (I know, I mentioned the C word!!!! LOL) I thought about getting him one for her

So first of all, what do you think of this idea?? And second of all, what would you reccomend??

Its a really good idea save it having pressure on its neck! Could you get a nice leather studded one like they do in collars and leads for staffys?! That would look mint

They also do like halter things for there noses but cant say ive ever seen one on a staffy only collies and dogs like that but im sure it doesnt really matter...

Arne't them harnesses on the nose to stop biting or something like that??

Was thinking of a nice leather harness and matching lead. Not sure about the studs though lol.

The ones with the studs look terrible! Only chavs have them.

As for the harnesses round the nose, they're a big no no. I hate those things. (They're not to stop biting Elizabeth, you're thinking of a muzzle)

Why doesn't he teach the dog to walk correctly so wouldn't have to worry about pressuree on the neck?

There is no such thing as a nice harness for a Staffie IMO, chavs have ruined this breed by putting horrible studded collars on to make themselves look hard, so i now think harnesses look bad on them whateverit looks like.

Ditto GinaB on training!

That's what he bought the nylon harness for. She's reasonably well trained, but Ska takes advantage of his gf walking her and pulls hence the harness being used. I think he prefers them as well.

The GF should try doing some training with the dog as yes, they will take the pee if they think they can get away with it.

I hate harnesses as I feel people use them as an excuse not to train their dogs and also it teaches a dog to walk incorrectly. The amount of dgos you see pulling like crazy on them and ending up walknig on their backs legs is unreal. As you can imagine it works all the back end muscle and then will also put pressure on the chest.

My little staff has a lovely leadrope type harness we bought at badminton, they come in lots of colours and it actually works! I think Libbys do a similar one or there is a type called the easy walker - staffs dont tend to be great on leads and these types do work well.
