I'm thinking of putting my girl into foal in a couple of years time.

She's a strawberry roan section d x c, quite fine and around 14.2

I've always wanted a skewbald, so was thinking warmblood x?

I don't want to put her with a pure TB as the cob x tb's I know are sharp as hell (not that they all are, but the ones I've met have been) and I always think that putting a bolshy cob with a flightly TB is just asking for trouble

Wouldn't want much more height - probably only 15.2 ish max.

My friend has got a 16.1hh dutch blue and white homozygous (or however you spell it, it means you are guarenteed of getting a coloured foal)

He is only rising 4, but is absolutely stunning, moves amazingly, currently being produced with the aim of being graded next year.
 
Not a skewbald, but coloured is bananamans on here's 'Amour G'. I love him...
Might be worth putting a copy of this post in breeding? Some of the stallion people only go in there.

she's got a nice action a very bold jump but not a flashy pace.....I'd like to do a bit more dressage later on so be nice to have something that was capable....he'd be perfect!
 
He's lovely but a bit too fine - moo doesn't have a great amount of bone and I don't want something too TB like coming out the other end!!
 
I've got my mare in foal to Country Top dollar.

Country Farm stud. He's 16.2 I think so a little bigger than what you're after but check him out as he makes me SQQUUUEEE with excitment. He's EXACTLY my type of horse.
 
What exactly are you wanting to breed from her?

Would the foal be something that you would want to sell on later, or would you want to keep it long term for yourself? In which case, what would you want to do with it? That should give you a starting point for looking at stallions, as most are geared to specific disciplines.

Are you dead set on having a coloured? You might find it difficult to breed a 'skewbald' as opposed to a 'piebald' (and by skewbald do you mean you only want a bay tobiano as opposed to a chesnut tobiano, which also falls into that category?). If you use a heterozygous stallion like Stanhopes Diddicoy you still have a 50% chance of getting a solid coloured horse, and therefore would you only be interested in using a homozygous stallion? In which case are you willing to use a stallion that is less suited to your mare just for the sake of having a coloured foal?

I guess what I'm saying is examine your motives. If you just want a coloured horse then it's far easier to go out and buy one (not to mention a LOT cheaper). By breeding your own you're not only opening yourself to all the risks and costs of breeding, but there's also a significant chance that what the horse you breed isn't actually the one you really want!

On the other hand, if you've considered all of this and are still thinking about going ahead in a few years time, then good luck!
 
oooo yummy! I would have said he was just a skewbald though - I need to read up on this!!

I guess I'll end up with a roan and white or red and white seeing as she's a roan?
 
Alsea - there's defo alot to consider. I'm not even sure I will do it tbh.

I'd like something to ride myself in similar disciplines as I do Maddie - bit of jumping, xc and a bit of dressage. I'm never going to be a top competitor but something that is sane and sensible and a good all rounder would be great.

Flashier paces would be nice although her paces are quite nice.
 
Another vote for Stanhopes Diddicoy - best friend's foal came out beautiful skewbald and he's just a complete babe - i'd give her £5000 for him now, and he's only 2!

My old loan horse was put to Stormhill Mink http://www.stormhillmink.com/index.html . She belonges to minesadouble on here, so you could PM her if interested.
My current mare was put to Thomas of Givendale http://www.thomasofgivendale.com/index.html but I've just looked and he's piebald anyway. And very heavy, not sure if you're looking for that type. Unfortunately she miscarried a few weeks early and lost a red and white colt.

I have a 4yo by Country Marksman who is by Country Top Gun. I bought him to sell on but I have really fallen for him so he was now been with me for over a year, but will prob have to sell him next year :-(. He is a lovely type with good movement, very natural jump and just the sweetest person. Seems like he will be a great allrounder.

No, not "Oshka" but Goshka Ringo - and his stud fee is serious but he IS homozygous and you are guaranteed a Coloured Foal. For some of his foals Google "Lower Trelydan" - my friends have had some extremely nice babies by him out of an ID mare. If you would like their email address, please PM me.
