Nicotine Patches.

I have been trying to quit smoking and i've been using Nicotine patches. I've been a bit naughty lately and have have a few cigarettes. I was doing very well at first but i've noticed when i wear a patch, the area of skin i put it on itches like mad and on several occasions i've been left with a raised angry looking rash. Has anyone else had this problem?

YES - I can't wear them after half an hour my skin reacts, goes bright red, itches like mad and if I leave it on for a couple of hours, when I take it off it stays like that for days!

I went to the Doctor's and she told me not to use them.... also tried the inhaler thing which gave me a throat infection and the gum makes me heave!

Yep same thing happened to me - can't say i like any of the other options either as they give you a sore throat! I gave up for 4 months by going cold tukey as such but as soon as i tried one, i was straight back on them. lesson learnt for next time!!!

Oh bugger - I have patches in the bathroom ready for my quit day on Monday. I do hope they dont cause a rash. I gave up for 18 months about 5 years ago using Zyban tablets, it was really easy to quit too and then I had to go and ruin it all by starting work with the Inland Revenue and that was enough to make me start again

They itch me too, i used them for 2 days, then went cold turkey, am not completely off ciggies, but OH doesnt know, i am sneaking 1 or 2 a day

, but at least its not 20 like i used to smoke, Good luck giving up.

The patches make me itch too and leave the covered area all red and weepy. I stuck them on my hips and bum area and just made sure I kept using a different place. I am allergic to elastoplast so I wasn't surprised at the reaction.

bess- try champix, my partner has given up 8 years of smoking within 2 weeks of taking champix. the only downside he said was that it did make him feel a little qweezy first thing in the morning but it was well worth it and i now have one much nicer smelling partner.lol!!! good luck

i just stick to smoking!!! its easier!! it doesn't cost a great deal as i smoke tobacco, i get it for £5 a pouch which will last me over a week, not that im trying to encourage you to carry on !!!!
