Hi I need new horse clippers and i was wondering if anyone has anyone can recommend any. I wont be clipping many just my own two horses but i would like something plug in that's lightweight and reliable. I seen these advertised on donedeal and I was wondering if anyone has used them? http://www.donedeal.ie/equineservices-for-sale/horse-clippers/2068892
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Kate :)

I looked into their specification a few day ago as someone mentioned them. The trouble I find is that nielson don't appear to be anywhere on the internet. The clippers are sold by other people with no knowledge or expertise in fixing the things if they went wrong. They are a copy of a heineger heavy duty so parts are available but I would question the usefulness of the warranty if the makers themselves can't seem to be located. I would suggest it's a big risk. Masterclip is the way forward if you want a budget clipper. If you insist on nielson then get them here: http://www.pjlallsorts.co.uk/300-watt-electric-horse-clippers-next-day-p&p~478 they're cheaper!

Thanks for the replies I have my eye on the liveryman clipper elite 90W but I just thought I would ask as they look so reasonable. Do you know if they are a good reliable clippers?

Them elite clippers are brilliant. They are very quiet, light AND powerful enough to handle most normal use. That said I would go for the 'red rocket' clipper myself, I'll explain why...

The body, motor etc are the same as the red rocket but the red rocket head is different and takes Heineger type blades. The Elite clipper takes A2 or wolseley blades which do break as soon as they hit the floor (heineger, hauptner and lister blades are much more robust). That is the only difference but that alone swings it for me. (unless you have a stock of wolseley blades already)

The body (same for both clippers) are as reliable as most similarly priced clippers. They have 2 dual formation mains filters in them that tend to go pop occasionally but they are not too expensive to replace. All the clippers that have this type of mains filter in them tend to be the same so I don't want to single these out. The filters are 'self healing' so they go bang and cut out, you then press the reset button and the clipper will run again. The filter will need to be replaced as it is faulty and will not stop interference but you can still use the clipper.

I think that's all...
