Last year I made the stupid mistake of helping a friend out. I agreed to them bringing their 8 horses here for 6 months as they had real problems with the equestrian property they were renting. So we moved out horses around created more stables and they moved in - with 15 horses!. they were an absolute nightmare, told me they had worm counted all their horses when clearly they hadn't. they broke fences, destroyed fields, smashed up stables. the husband drove his lorry into gates, and gateposts. They slated us to existing liveries and local contractors and eventually I told them to leave because it was so horrendous seeing the conditions they were keeping their horses in. Deep litter, about 2 ft deep no muck removed, just more bedding chucked in and no water given for days at a time and barely enought hay. They only turned them out once every couple of weeks or so despite having several acres of paddocks to themselves because they couldn't be bothered .
We finally got them out and 6 months later I have finished clearing away all evidence and paying off the debts they left us with. They have broken all contact and left no forwarding address. Not that we want any contact BUT........ yesterday while tidying away stuff I have come accross a horse passport of theirs for a 3 year old colt.
So the question is.... what do I do with the passport. i can;t get it back to them and to be honest I am not at all inclined to spend hours scouring the internet to try and find them cos I know they are on the run from creditors they have scammed as those poor people have been contacting our address to try and find them.
Should I get it to the passport issuing office and leave to them, or should I simply put it in my filing cabinet and wait and see what happens?
Having suffered at their hands the last option is the way I am leaning at the moment. Least effort on my part.
