Maisiemoo's trip to vets was very eventfull. on a good note back x-ray came back fine so big relief there, on a bad note, vet nurse was lunging her in the carpark on the concrete and vet noticed she shook her head when facing into the sun [ she at vets in first place because of strange headshaking ]he said could have photic headshaking syndrome, he wanted to see her lunged blindfolded so put a towel over her eye's. She stopped doing it straight away but vet nurse was lunging close to edge of concrete where there is a foot drop. Maisie fell down the drop whilst trotting tried to get up and fell again , took the skin off both knees and her left hock , she was very traumatised poor girl , just wanted to give her a big cuddle , he has given her a painkiller and me some cream to put on, curiuos as to wether i will be billed for this . Need a big glass of wine now but got to wait till after dogclub. not in the mood to take my class tonight , will put a seperate post about the photic headshaking cos vet did'nt seem to clear on how to help it.

They better not bill you for it! Plus... lunging in a carpark??? Don't vets have special hardened places to do that in that are more safe????

Oooh dont get me going on this, elderly ponio at our stables was lunged on the concrete by a vet from an institution that should have known better, pony fell and broke its neck. They didnt take action cos pony poss wouldnt have made it any way but its a **** way to see a pony youve had for 10 years go. No excuse!

Oh no!! poor horse. Don't let them bill you, be firm, that was their doing not yours. Hope you horse gets well soon :)

Recently saw a lecture by RVC, and lunging on concrete is used as a lameness diagnostic tool. Thought vet hospitals had special areas though, not the car park.

obviously it can be used to diagnose lameness, but there should be a safe area to do it, certainly not one with a drop! What kind of vets does that?! Do NOT let them charge you! And make sure your girl is not going to have any scarring from that either. And i would likely consider getting a new vet for in future.
