I don't post on here much but I do browse a lot. Figured I might as well give it a bash by ranting
.
I lent a saddle to a friend a few weeks ago to try on her horse and eventually hoping to sell it. Anyway we had a bit of a fall out in which Ill happily admit both parties were at fault and I asked for saddle back (very nicely). X doesn't get back in touch so I text again; this time asking for either the saddle or its maximum value to which i get the response that I could come and get it.
As it's a while away from me I asked her to post it but she said she can't package it up. I wasn't too keen on my saddle being sent unwrapped as I could see it getting ruined so instead I said I'd take her up on her other offer of my friend who lives near by picking it up. All seems ok until she got in touch today saying she'd given the saddle to her friend as thats easier and that they would be in touch to arrange for me to get it.
Friend hasn't been in touch yet (although it is early days I guess) but she won't give me contact details either which is a bit disconcerting. She's got a lot going on atm which is fair enough but I said I only needed saddle back by next weekend so someone on my yard can get it check by their saddle fitter on the Monday. I think I've been fairly reasonable tbh; friend would have been happy to collect any morning or evening this week which would have taken 2 secs instead of all this palava!
BHS legal helpline have advise to report saddle as stolen and then pursue her through the small claims court which sounds like a complete nightmare. Guess I should have listened to my mother when she said "never a borrower nor lender be"
