As title really. Just wondering how you are going. Dex is fine but caught his wound and now we have a bit of discharge. Fairly certain it isn't infected but spoke to vet and am keeping a close eye on it. Only 5 more weeks to go!!

Aww - thank you so much for asking, I was thinking about you yesterday as my poor doggie is such blooming hard work. I have been sleeping on the sofa for a week now & am shattered!! Blue usually sleeps upstairs with us & he just can't understand why he's not allowed up, cried constantly in the crate so the way we are doing it is - when we're not there he is confined to one room so he cannot jump up on anything, when we're there he's allowed in the living room & we lift him up on the sofa & lift him down (naughty but he settles down quickly), just have to be ready in case he jumps off.

All went well with the surgery, his leg didn't even look like a leg when he came home, it was that swollen. The stitches are very neat & tidy though, must post a piccy.

He still seems extremely sore, he is weight bearing on his leg but a lot of the time he just holds it up. He's on Rimadyl twice day for 10 days, then once a day for 10 days. He's going in tomorrow to have stiches out. It will be day 10 tomorrow. He had a very upset tummy when he came out so whether that was just the trauma I don't know, tummy has settled down now though.

I don't remember him being as bad as this when he had his elbows done but this was more invasive I suppose.

Xara is being very, very good with him, she seems to know something's wrong & she's giving him a wide berth which I'm very impressed with as she's only 15 months old.

How's your boy doing, does any of this sound familiar.

I posted a pic of his op further down. No swelling at all. It is a little swollen now but think that is due to him catching it and it may be slightly infected. Has his staples out on Thurs. He sleeps upstairs and I carry his back end up with a towel under his belly. It works fine and we had no problems doing this in July with his other leg. At least you will get some sleep that way!! Dex is using his leg but stands with his weight off it also. It takes time so sounds as if you dog is doing OK. Good Luck!!

What a shame Dexter has caught his. Hope it heals quickly for him. Great idea about taking him upstairs. I had thought about it, will give it a go tonight. At least I can carry Blue up, he's not as big as Dexter.

Blue is definately feeling better in himself anyway, he has little spurts of energy and will run on 3 legs!! He must be bored out of his head having to keep lying down, I keep telling him to go on his bed & he looks at me like - how much more can I sleep.

Wow that was quite swollen! They do seem to cope quite well though. It is worth it to see how well they are when they are all healed up. We are away in January so our poor house sitter is doing to have to cope with a crazy Dexter. He loves it when the lead comes off and he can run again.

He was sound after about three weeks but had to stay on a lead and quiet (yeah right) for 6 weeks. Then he had an X-ray and got the all clear. He was supposed to stay on the lead for another 4 weeks with gradual build up of exercise but I let him do pretty much what he wanted as long as he didn't go too mad. It soon passes but I know it's hard now. Believe me as they feel better it gets harder!! By the way I do let Dex on the furniture but he tends to climb on and off rather than jump.

Thanks. I just don't want to undo what they've done so I suppose I'm being over cautious. My dog before Blue had the same thing but done by a local vet, I don't remember her being like this but we let her pretty much be herself straight away, she was a lot older though and not as "mad" as Blue.

Oh well, hoping these weeks go by real quick
