Pony and daughter are coming along great. Daughter had her first private lession with a professional teacher today and loved it, pony was soo tired after!

Anyway, we're having a small problem. Pony is becoming more and more confident around me. But, he keeps trying to nip me when leading him!! He has a flash on but still try's nipping you. Keeps pushing his head into you, he has a martingale on. He's very soft mouthed on the bit.

Any ideas what I could do to help him stop messing around? X

Are you feeding him/treating him by hand ? My boy was becoming more and more cheeky but I've managed to stop it by not feeding him from my hand.

It took a few weeks for him to realise he could no longer mug me for treats , he still gets them, but I now feed his carrots from the ground at the end of the ride.

upturned and stiff dandy brush in the other hand. Let him stuff he soft little nose into it a few times. Worked for my youngsters when they went through the nippy stage.

He's 6, but hadn't been schooled in a while.

No we don't treat by hand, he throws his head about in the school too. He seems to be getting cheekier lol

growl at him when he goes to nip and push his head away, the throwing his head about is discomfort, has his teeth been checked, is he bothered by flies, is his flash too tight.
We are having problems with fruitflies, irritating little beggars, check inside his ears, there will be a reason for it

I tap my boy on the nose, it doesn't need to be hard but it definitely gets his attention! Don't think he can see it coming that's why :P
