Hi, does anyone have a nissan navara or similar type of truck?

If so do you find its sheer size a problem? Can you get into multistorey car parks?

And whats it like to tow horse trailer?

thanx :)

No but people I know have them, yes they say the sheer bulk is a problem at times, but more often than not it is massive engine faults etc that are more the problem!OH's friend bought one, cant exactly remember the problem but it was a biggy, because it was a newish vehicle he contacted nissan with the issue and was told in no uncertain terms it "wasnt designed to be driven in 4x4" wtf, lmao,he is one unhappy chappy!
Farrier has one and hates it,gave it to his Oh and drives his old ford ranger :)

The Terrano seems a lot better and stronger too according to several mechanics we know. Great for towing, hardly know they're there but never been in a multi-storey so can't say but easy enough in Tescos.

I have had my navara pick up for 3 years and it has been very reliable so far ,it is great for towing ,2 horses no problem and reasonably economic for a 4x4 ,it was a bit slippy in the snow unless loaded up but most pickups are .
Mine is an 03 model and the steering lock is C**p ,I couldnt possibly get it into a small space or multistorey car park ,apparently the newer models are better,
I had a Mitsubishi before this one and that was even worse and blew 2 headgaskets ,I prefer the Navara its a good workhorse .

have a 10 plate isuzu denver very pleased with it turn it where ouldnt turn 90 landy, did have to have clutch replaced but mainly driver error, reversing trailer uphill not in 4l, but under warrenty, tow 14ft stock trailer with it no problems when up or over weight limit. just see how many farmers have them instead of landys and cheaper tax.

We have a ford thunder which is fab! Also one heck of a lot cheaper to buy! Fabulous for towing, as were regulary carting two 15.2 full bone cobs in and in the winter were like a towing service for locals who get stuck in the snow!
As for the size problem, it's not too bad, but it doesn't fit in the damn car wash! So hand washing it is and it's a good job were tall!

i have toyota surf, oldie truck but same sort of size as the navara etc, have no problems with multi stories and supermarket car parks, in fact find it easier to reverse park than small car cos its got huge wing mirrors! was awsome in the snow & ice apart from a little blip at the start of the winter when the
4wd wouldnt engage, but once that was sorted i dont know how i'd have managed the winter yard run without it, good for towing too, proper workhorse :)

My OH bought a Navara (new type) its been very reliable & nice to drive but it was less than 6 months old when the IWT it was towing (not a horse trailer) started to snake violently before turned over with it:eek: Luckly the insurance paid the 7k bill to fix it.

IMHO the trouble with pick ups is there is no weight over the back which makes them unstable.

We also have a Hilux (04) which is also really reliable & they hold their money but its a bit slow

But never had any problems in multistoreys with either of them.

We have a pathfinder which is basically a Navara without the pick up (Navara is just slightly longer) and I have nothing but praise for it! Tows like a dream and drives more like a car than a big old truck, gets round carparks etc.

.

Stick a few paving slabs in the back, that does the trick. It makes me laugh in winter when so many trucks here have quads in the bed to weigh them down a bit.

We have a Nissan Titan (larger version of the Frontier/Navarra) no way would that get round a multi storey car park, mind, it is more manoueverable than the Sierra was, and the Sierra beat the Defender 110!

Many Nissan Navaras suffered from catastrophic engine failure (Big end bearing ). Don't take my word for it or anyone on here. Just google Nissan navara engine problems. Many threw engine internals through the engine block. If you get one make sure you get the right model or make sure the engine recall had been done. Lots of googling to be safe.

isuzu denver max it will go in most multi-stori car parks and is about 3 inches narrower than navara, towes brilliantly, lovely ride but a bit thirsty on fuel (arnt they all !)

i've borrowed a friends navara a few times and it's great for towing but trying to get into smaller spaces was a nightmare, the steering lock is the worst i've ever experienced!

my friends ended up having to send it back to the dealer as they were having so many problems with it, i think it was on an 02 plate.

My dad has one and he loves it. He hasn't had any problems with tight spaces but then he used to drive HGV for a living.

It tows without even breaking a sweat you wouldn't know you had a trailer on the back with two 16.2hhs in the back.

Avoid the pre 06 L200 mitsubisi and all years of the nissan navara the latest ones drive well but arent very reliable, older models had engine failure issues , Hilux good but poor towing capacity and expensive, isuzu good, ford ranger/mazda bt50 good and good value for money,

When I worked in Oman we had Hilux for four years. Then my company (trying to same money replaced them with the Ford / mazda Ranger/ Bt50. They were so unreliable we had to change back to Toyota. The Fords spent most of their time in the workshop getting repaired. This wasn't that bad though as they always gave us a Hilux as a courtesy car. The main problems was steering, front suspension and electrical faults

I've had mine from new for over 4 years. Haven't towed with it, but it has always been reliable and quite economical. I love mine and it's great for chucking hay and stuff in the back without getting the inside messy. The steering lock isn't great, but you get used to it, same with parking, and multi storey car parks are tight.

We've recently been given a Pathfinder in exchange for my Dad's van and an audi. So far it's been great, think it is a 2.5 diesel and tows the hb510 really well with my 17hh warmblood and my friends 16.1 tb even up a huge hill it doesn't struggle that much and not many people overtake in the second lane.

It is a ex police one so when it rains you can see where the police stickers have been in the back windows! Not sure what it is like in multi storey but I would say it might be too big for them?

We had one but scrapped it after the 2nd engine blew. Wouldn't touch one with a bargepole especially if it's one of the older ones. I know several other people who had similar problems.
