I'm looking for a decent, not too utilitarian tow vehicle with a good towing capacity and have found one of these. A friend has had one for 6 years and loves it to bits, but some of the reviews I've seen have been less than flattering.

Anyone have one or have any thoughts, or alternative suggestions (need to tow 2700kg)? Thanks :)

They are pretty rare I think, but basically the same as the Nissan Navara D40, which we use as our tow vehicle and love.

The Navara would be even cheaper as it is classed as a commercial vehicle and therefore gets cheap tax.

There is a forum for Navara owners which we have found useful and there is a section dedicated to the pathfinder. It is called navara net, worth looking up.

We had a Kia Sorrento which was a nightmare and when we got rid we bought the navara, it has plenty of power, is more luxurious and much less utilitarian to drive than many 4x4s we looked at. Drives like a big high up car. Found towing easy, especially as it is so huge that the trailer is no wider than the wing mirrors. Only downside is that with the long wheel base it is about as manouverable as the an aircraft carrier!

The bad feedback tends to be for electrical faults, and we did have to have some sensors replaced under warranty when we bought ours but nothing major.

Thank you for that! I'll go look at the forum. The Pathfinder seems to be very good value for money compared to similar tow vehicles, so I'm quite keen I think :)

We have a 56 plate Nissan Pathfinder and we love it.

Having endured the torture that was a Land Rover TD5 that suffered a massive fault and we had to fight LR tooth and nail to get it repaired, this car is an absolute joy.

I've just asked my OH and he's shouted that it can tow 3 tons but I'm sure others will be along with more technical answers!

Thanks all, that forum is really useful, just what I needed! I don't want a Landrover, and the Toyotas (same age/mileage) are between £8k and £11k more expensive than the Pathfinder  Besides, everyone round here has Toyotas and I do like to be different ;)
