Yes they would tow that not to bad but parts are dear and they are fairly lightweight , if the price is right you could do alot worse....

Going to use the weight tape on the ginger sausage to see what he basically weighs, think I have about got to grips with the towing weight thingy :)

Hi

My friend has one of these and he towed a boat all the way to Italy and back.(weighs about the same as a trailer and horse) He thinks they are fab. He tows my 16hh horse in an Ifor Williams trailer with the X trail, no probs.

Check the tyre size on it too. Some x-trails have 17" rims on them and tyres are bit more difficult/expensive to get.

Yes, I have one and tow all sorts with it, rarely horses, but other livestock and flat beds with no bother at all. It also used to be fairly economical on diesel, nowadays, at 9 years old and 150k on the clock... not so much, but still affordable.

When I bought mine a few years back the reviews compared it favourably with the discovery - if you weren't bothered about the image. It has been excellent. My load is similar to yours but I always take the horse out if the field I have to traverse is deep mud.

I have one.

She's called Jinky :)

My dad bought her for me as a gift. He did his research (as a lifetime mechanic) and decided an Xtrail (or a Kia Sorrento) was the best choice. I was secretly a bit worried that it would be too wimpy to tow a horse as you hear people saying only a Landie will do.....

She tows my IW401 (770kg) with my Tank (650kg, 16hh, Ardennes x ID) and I have to keep an eye on her on the motorway as she glides by and wants to go faster than I want to :p

She is also AMAZINGLY economical.

She towed us from Blackpool to Somerfield Park and back for horse camp on a quarter of a tank (I had no more money to put any more in:P)

I've got one. I tow a 16.1 in an ifor 505 and it does the job perfectly. I got it as my yo has one and loves it, its reasonably economical for every day use and drives like a car without feeling big.
