No. 1 Most Useful piece of Horsey Gear??

My double length lead rope - I bought it about 15 years ago at Frogpool for £11 (standard lead ropes were £2.50!) - and it's been a life saver.

Long enough to stay out of the way of bolshy colts when they were playing up, long enough to wrap round a nose of a horse that tried tanking off, much softer on the hands than lunge lines and it doesn't wrap around your feet like they do when you're leading (or is that just me? :o) and you can tie up with it. Still looks like new after nearly daily use all these years and I've never seen another one since. Wish I'd bought two, just in case...

Ditto this. Except mine was Australian. Need a new one. It seems that leaving them on the gate is not the best idea.

My John Whitaker headcollar came with or I bought with it a double length very well made leadrope in red white and blue. Used it when backing, loading and others have borrowed it too for similar purposes. I dont know if they still do them the same but it is going strong after 6 years of hard labour, unlike all my cheapie normal leadropes!

A shire's bale bag - £7 and has been used twice a day since Nov for lugging hay in the back of the car to the pony boys...easy peasy to fill and weigh, hooks to tie it all together at the top, can use it like a haynet in trailer etc as has an eating hole...saves the car from looking like some kind of mobile horse-feeding wagon...made from really durable material so still looks tidy even after all that use...and hay doesn't stick to the material either..
other than that, a rope pressure halter with long line has made life with my feral bargey project 2.5 yo gelding a sight easier! ;)

Rambo fleece lined waterproof chaps.. were an xmas present 2 years ago. Still wash like new even after getting caked in mud!

I've SSG thinsulate gloves, love them but they've gone awol since this weekend. I had them in the old erbanger but we sent it to scrap this weekend too so I'm hoping they're not gone :'( I wear them for everything, riding, mucking out, staying out at the yard etc I live in them, I hope they turn up sharpish!

I couldn't live without my yard jacket, It has an ungodly amount of rubbish in it but also resident hoof pick, mane comb, string, plaiting bands etc so I'm never stuck :)

I need one of those. :) Does he have a single brother or cousin please?

Well yes he does have a single brother but I would not inflict him on you kippen64 as he's obsessed with football and does not get the horse thing at all.
My OH loved westerns in this very urban non horsey childhood that's what interested him in me to begin with that and the fact he loved my dog and his mum never let him have one.
He has learnt to ride enjoys hunting on a lovely ID we have for him ( he has had several horses we have Been together over twenty years)
I have been so lucky .
