She's behind you... heh heh heh!!!

Vet 95% certain she's not in foal. Getting scanned again on Thurs to make sure and see what follicle looks like if not. He says there is a follicle there and ovarian activity so looks like she'll come into season Fri/Sat if there definitely isn't a bubba there...

Ah well, she must be after her moneys worth!

they are being right buggers at the mo these mares!!fingers crossed she takes at the next go! but think she has same mind as bracken..................get as much out of the man as possible!! poor dollar has just covered her for the third time LOL he must be sick of her by now!!

aww so sorry, i went through the 5% chance of there being a foal about 4 times with my mare and then i sent her back the following year and she took first time so keep your fingers crossed!

She'll go back at the end of the week see if we can catch her. I don't mind a later foal, we'll manage with that.

To say she hasn't been cycling noticeably and had to be jabbed, I thought this might happen but those whose mares then came back in season naturally and didn't take after the jab, were succfessful on the next attempt so fingers crossed for this weekend after she has more nookie!!

Good for you. As you know Rainbow was 1st July (same as Asti) and Bramble was due last Wednesday but i don't think shes going to have it for at least another week

I'll have my fingers crossed for you. I really hope she gets in-foal this year.

See how it goes I think. I reckon this is all following the same path as a few others this year. Was in season, took to stud when she SHOULD have been in season but I think we missed her. Then 3 weeks of cold, wet, fog, more rain... and no seasons at all even being teased every day.

So she had the jab on 26 June, came in season and was covered on 29 June and 1 July. Now if she ovulated too early as others have done, and saying she was in oestrus until 4 July, she would be due back in season on 19 or 20 July - ie Thurs/Fri.

Now my vet (different to stud vet) would rather have scanned her a few days later. Stud said 17 days from the date of first covering, he'd have rather it been arranged for 17 days from last covering as he'd see more.

So he'll check again on Thursday and either the 5% will win and he will see a pregnancy, or alternatively, he'll see what the follicle is up to and see when she'll come in to season and ovulate and we can try again on a normal season not one from a jab.

I'd rather catch her on the next season or two this year than postpone it to next year. I can manage with a later foal if we get her in the next month say.

I think she's like me... late starter then realises what its all about!!!!!

Gingermare can fully sympathise with you and everyone else this year. We have 5 mares out of 10 now confirmed in foal, still another 5 to go and we are in mid July! Blinking nightmare of a year this year.

Today was like a day in October this morning, driving rain and wind and only 10 degrees!! Better evening tonight but we are forecast for more horrible weather!!

Yesterday was the only day of summer we had which was when I got some pictures of the horses, but its just unreal been this year.

Sorry to hear that, my mare didnt show at 14 but did at 17 so you never know!

Will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you x

So sorry, Gingermare. 5% is better than nothing though! Like you say, the fact that she's about to come into season naturally might just get the job done.
My mare is being scanned tomorrow morning - not that hopeful but am going to give it one more try....
Hardest part will be getting her away from stallion - they're the only 2 in the field and we have to stop traffic on a fast road...
Might be easier bringing him in too, and he can see the ultrasound for a 'proud dad moment'

The success rate here at Clandon stud has been 100% to date,,, even when mares have been scanned empty they still produced ha ha....We run our visiting mares with our stallions, because covering in hand does not have a good success rate for us..

I loaned one of our stallions to Mrs Blyde in Debenham Suffolk many years ago, As a novice with a stallion and new breeder, (to far to bring the mares) she had a step by step guide to looking after a stallion, after a few days she phoned me to say all was well, and that she had been in bed all day because what I did'nt tell her, was they are at it all night, and the noise was dreadful, galloping around and snorting and all the playing,,, well, I would not know because our stud is away from the house, her field is next to her bedroom.. ugh....she commented that the stallion covered the same mare again and again. until she rejected him, she had taken,,, if you cover in hand you are not going to even going to come close, to compete with nature... well needless to say the next night her five fell mares and boyo, were moved to the next field and a good nights sleep was had by all but not the ponies they were having a great time...with their new boyfriend.. On that note of Nature at work.. we leave them to it, we have various native stallions here, and they are all have kind temperments which is evident in their foals.. they all live out all year round with their wives and the visiting mares settle in no problems. so I would recommend leave em to it...there are no marks on any of our mares or visitors.. we cover TB's all sorts for Highland crosses and many had records of failing before...all in foal last year, foals this year and in foal again....
adviseable to make sure you file the stallions toes smooth.. sharp hooves cause the problems...

all the best....hope your all successful...
