No hat required if child being led?? Eh??

I was thinkin bout this when i was down the yard, and wondered how exactly is being on a lead going to prevent a child from falling off....all it will stop is the pony taking off (and thats provided the leader is strong enough and holding on correctly) the pony is still able to rear, buck, spook, spin and make the attempt to take off, any of these things could cause a child to fall.

Exactly look at my post on this thread My daughters pony spooked in the show ring done a few leaps and threw in a rear and she fell :( luckly she was fine and I was holding her leg but that was not enough when the pony decided to throw a strop :D
Hats with children are a must, adults know the consequences, ie u fall no hat on equals you could end up brain damaged having someone doing things that we take for granted children can not comprehend this :(
BTW I know this can also happen if you do wear a hat just more chance if you dont.

i am an adult and after having an accident on my sisters cob, where i fell off and she stood on my leg, resulting in an operation and a month off work,i still had not ridden my horse.when i was up feeding her my sister had her coloured youngster walking around the garden.she asked if i would like to try him and she would lead him.i put my hat on and was led approx 4 steps and bronked straight over his head landing head first on concrete and smashing my hat,and knocked poor joes tooth out in the process.he had never done anything wrong before. turned out a wasp stung him just as i sat on....just my luck.i would never ride without a hat even getting led.

Sorry, haven't had time to read rest of the replies other thsn those I saw when it was first posted.

I emailed them to say how disgusted I was.

Job done. They admit it was wrong, and say although they cannot change the printed schedules, they will try to change the online one, and will position a steward on the ring entrance to tell people they must wear a hat.

RESULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Many thanks!!! Also to chickeninabun for noticing it and bringing it to everyone's attention. Without this I wouldn't have seen it, and been able to challenge it!!!!

I dn't think the parents will have a choice now. The wording led me to believe a hat was no longer optional.

Changing the world, one hat at a time lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
