Well, I visited the last livery yard this morning on my list and the first thing that YO asked was "Do you have children" and with a sinking feeling I said "yes", she said that "it may be a problem".
Anyways, then went on to look at a field down the street from where I live where it's cheap field rent and there was no spaces for me. Too bad as dogs and kids were aloud!

I was close to tears by then and went over the road to my friends house (my loan horse to be's owner) and told her. Anwyays, she did some phoning around and it turns out that there is a field with TWO STABLES going just down the lane from us!! I'd have it all to myself along with a shed for the feed and hay and a chicken pen AND an allotment to grow my own veg at a price I can afford!

I'm meeting the field owner on Sunday to work out the details but fingers crossed everybody that he doesn't turn around and say "no kids"!!

The great thing is if you get that your kids wont have people like me watching them like hawks all the time and being impatient with them! so they will prob have a much nicer time!! hope it goes well......keep us updated.

*crosses fingers*

I hope this one works out for you. I know what its like for kids to be unwelcome. I've got 6 of 'em and they are well behaved but folks just see lots of kids and automatically assume 'bad kids'

I really hope it works out, unfortunately it's a case of the minority ruining it for the rest. Kids are allowed were we are but when you see how their parents behave, you can understand why most yards don't allow them. Some parents seem to think it's fine to leave their 5yo unattended whilst they ride (this 5yo has been caught playing footy using a ponies legs for goal posts and peeing on hay.....not his mothers obviously)!!!!

I am really sorry I am not a 'Kids' person but I do understand how difficult it is for you when you are punished because the parents who arent bovvered let the side down for everyone who is.

We have new neighbours across the road and they are 22 and 23 and have 5 kids under 8 the cul de sac is strewn with their rubbish bits of stick empty sweet wrappers whatever toy they last had and bicycles everywhere. We caught the 4 year old helping the 2 year old onto the roof of their 4 by 4.

Meanwhile Nathan diagonally opposite must be about 7 and he is only as loud and boisterous as any healthy boy and if you grumble at him he apologises and then you feel guilty for grumbling.

I really hope you find somewhere nice for your horses and your kids.

Good luck! I hope that everything works out for you. I was talking to my YO tonight about the content on the other thread. He looked across our yard where there were six lilttle girls all aged between 7 to 11 who were all involved with their ponies and said 'they've got to start somewhere'.
